About Gerstung Sprung Floors
®
A Studio’s biggest investment is its dance floor, which is a combination of the Top Surface, Stable Structure, and the Sprung aspect to the floor. Gerstung brings it all to you in two different Sprung Floor designs:
the original sprung floor, and the SF-600 sprung floor.

Gerstung Floors
The Top Surface - The surface that the dancers feet touch. This would be Vinyl/Marley or Wood selected for the type of dance styles offered by the studio/perfomance company.
The Stable Structure - Hardwood Plywood with 8 layers of veneer to 1/2” thickness, making this long lasting dance floor that doesn’t chip, delaminate or warp.
The Sprung aspect of the floor, our patented is created by water-impervious Action Foam Blocks placed on the underside of the stable structure in a pattern for air to move freely under the floor. The Action Foam Blocks absorb the impact of the dancer and recover quickly providing both shock absorbency and resiliency throughout the floor. The dancer has safe take offs and landings for of years of teaching, rehearsing, creating, and performing. AirBase is used in our Studio AB-200, AB-2030, and Portable: AB-300, AB-400, AB-500
It is the only floor on the market that can claim both extreme shock absorption
and localized resilience.
Gerstung has another Sprung floor design, the SF-600, that provides great shock absorbency to minimize fatigue. This Sprung floor has the same plywood stable structure as our AB floors, but with water-impervious Foam Strips instead of the patterned Action Foam Blocks. It is more economical, and is safe and shock absorbing.
For over 50 yrs, Gerstung has made Sprung Floors at its Baltimore factory. These floors have been protecting the joints of dancers/athletes world wide. Some Gerstung floors are still being used and performing well after 50 yrs of age!
