What is an AirBase Sprung Subfloor?
®
AirBase means resilience and safety for dancers.
An AirBase is a Gerstung sprung subfloor created 50 years ago for Gymnasts, Athletes, and Dancers. It is a sturdy base that supports the top surface of vinyl or wood. The AirBase consists of a layer of hardwood plywood, supported by Energy Blocks™ that provide both absorbency and resilience to the dancer. The Gerstung Energy Block™ compresses and recovers quickly - better than anything on the market. The result is an even, shock absorbent, resilient floor providing lifting power and safe landings.
The Top Surface, is what the dancers feet touch. Top surfaces are selected according to the type of dance being done in the studio.

Preschoolers are driven by the desire to move. Gerstung created Little Gym-Things to educate preschoolers through movement. This smaller line of equipment is a reflection of our traditional movement education apparatus, with new and exciting possibilities. On this age-appropriate equipment, children learn to make decisions, express independence, and develop strength, awareness, confidence, and creativity.
Since 1964, the goal of Gerstung has been to create the environment that challenges the curiosity of children providing the motivation for learning. The Little Gym is for children ages 2 years (with parents) - 4 years and are fully compatible with all other movement education equipment. The apparatus is extremely sturdy and able to support any adult who wishes to be a child again. Recommend: Preschool Teacher's Guide to Movement Education (see below).
