What is an AirBase Sprung Subfloor?
®
AirBase means resilience and safety for dancers.
An AirBase is a Gerstung sprung subfloor created 50 years ago for Gymnasts, Athletes, and Dancers. It is a sturdy base that supports the top surface of vinyl or wood. The AirBase consists of a layer of hardwood plywood, supported by Energy Blocks™ that provide both absorbency and resilience to the dancer. The Gerstung Energy Block™ compresses and recovers quickly - better than anything on the market. The result is an even, shock absorbent, resilient floor providing lifting power and safe landings.
The Top Surface, is what the dancers feet touch. Top surfaces are selected according to the type of dance being done in the studio.

The Gym-Thing Philosophy

We teach instead of coach; we develop instead of demand. Our purpose is to develop the child rather than presenting the subject. The focus must always be on planning the way, not in performing the skill itself.
Accomplishment begins with the willingness to try. We allow learning from mistakes and exploring one's personal limit. There is enjoyment in attempting the problem and mastering the task. Out achievement progresses in small steps with no exposure to failure. The teacher is interacting with students, students with teacher; both mature during the process. We strive for more effort, more determination and wait for improvement - never forcing it, we grow more complete and capable.
There is always more than one way to accomplish a goal and if most goals are achieved, the educational process is working and learning takes place.
